On April 14, 2010, the Wisconsin Marriage & Family Therapy, Professional Counseling and Social Work Examining Board reprimanded licensed clinical social worker Robert K. La Fountain.
La Fountain had been employed as a social worker for a County Health And Human Services Department during the following incidents:
- In a therapy session with “client A”, La Fountain asked the client’s mother to wear her hair down; twice during that session, he moved over to her and stroked her hair and commented on how soft it was. He asked questions during the session about her intimacy with her partner and whether it was an exclusive relationship;
- In a session with “client B”, La Fountain asked client B’s mother what she did for a living and was told she was an exotic dancer. La Fountain asked her questions regarding her sexuality, including whether she would date customers, how she shaved her pubic area and what sexual positions she preferred.
The Board’s document includes data about similar conduct with two other clients, as well as data that he has exhibited similar behavior with female co-workers.
La Fountain was subsequently terminated from his position with the county. In addition to the reprimand, he must reimburse the Board $2,300 for its investigation and prosecutions costs.
